ELIZABETH ("Liza") A.
FAVARO
Liza is an associate in our Business Litigation Group. She represents businesses and high-net worth individuals in various disputes involving contracts, real property, construction, employment and intellectual property. She also represents doctors and health care professionals in partnership/shareholder disputes, personal matters and medical malpractice cases.
Experience:
As a trial lawyer, Liza has a wide range of litigation experience in state and federal courts. She has managed a variety of cases from start to finish, including winning her first jury trial during her third year in practice. More recently, Liza served as second chair in several trials where the jury found in favor of her clients, resulting in judgments exceeding $1 million each. Liza has experience in complex and class action litigation and has worked on a number of significant appeals. Michigan Super Lawyers has recognized Liza as a Rising Star for 2009, 2010 and 2011.
During law school, Liza served as an Assistant Editor of the Thomas M. Cooley Law Review. She was named Winner & Best Advocate in Cooley’s First-Year and Intra-School Moot Court Competitions and she participated in the 2005 National Appellate Advocacy Competition in New Orleans, Louisiana. She also served as a judicial intern to the Honorable Maura D. Corrigan for the Michigan Supreme Court.
Before attending law school, Liza was an Emmy award-winning television journalist.
Liza is a member of the State Bar of Michigan, the Oakland County Bar Association (OCBA), and the Women Lawyers Association of Michigan (WLAM).
